De La Guarda, New York City

This is a very interesting preformance I was lucky enough to go and see while Jessica was in town. Having no clue what to expect I went in and just kind of took it in. And after about 10 minutes it had taken me in. It gets very funky and a bit wet and wild.

NO LONGER IN NY. Monterrey and Mexico City if you wish to see this.

Make sure what you wear to this show is something you dont mind getting wet. Because you will get it all wet. Use the coat check for your bag and coat and go in with very little on you. If you must take a change of clothes in the bag you leave downstairs.

Can't say this is dance, can't say this is a play... it's an interactive theater experience. Think flying. Think dancing. Think tribal. Think rave. Think "I will not miss the beginning of this show." Think WOW I WISH I COULD SEE THAT AGAIN.

Dress casually, in clothes that you wouldn't mind getting wet. Yes, that includes your shoes.

This is by far the craziest thing we have ever seen! It's not quite theater, not quite a concert, but somewhere in between. It's indescribable, all we can say is LOOK UP!

COMFORTABLE! You are on your feet for the whole show, so wear comfortable shoes. Also, if it's cold out, bring a change of clothes cause you get very WET!

I saw a production by an Argentinian theatre/dance troupe called De La Guarda. A very sensational, sensual and exotic ride that left me wanting more. "It's a show, a party, an event, a madhouse, and a spectacle." I really can't offer any more than that. Check out their website at www.delaguarda.com.

Wear something you don't mind getting wet or soiled...definately not your Sunday best!

De la Guarda. The do theater, but not in the classic sense. They dance, jump, walk up the walls, all your senses will be busy and in contact with them. The group was created in Buenos Aires in 1993, they were in Brasil, Europe and then in Las Vegas and N.Y.
NO BUSCAMOS SER PROFUNDOS SINO PODER SALIR A LA SUPERFICIE. VILLA VILLA.'In 1993 we finally presented Villa Villa in Buenos Aires. To this date, we continue to develop and experiment with the show you are seeing tonight. Everything started with the uncontrollable desire to explode, to expand, to chose a space and take complete hold of it,while leaving nothing out the game. The tide produced by the audience is a fundamental part of the emotionalupheavalof this show, where everything is fragile, everythingis changeable except our tempests. The victim is reality. There are no laws of nature in what'sfantastic;there is neither logic nor stability'.

This show is really a lot of fun -- but if you don't like crazy, it's probably not for you. You'll stand through the performance, get herded back and forth by cloudbursts, strobe lights, moving stages. You might even get snatched up and carried away. Pounding drums and music that makes you feel like you're lost in the Amazon, or a rainforest on Jupiter. Or not. It was "born" in Argentina, so I don't know if that was what they were going for, but could be.... $50 per person.

Dress for comfort. You'll get wet. Not for inhibited souls.

In Deryl Roth Theatre at 20 Union Square East there is the wonderfull performance: De La Guarda. People comes here several times to see the show again and again. The whole audience is taking a part in performance. Really amazing.
It will move you!

Comfortable, you have to stay during the whole show.

very cool show. Instead of going out to a bar and drinking, go to enjoy a show. they are fantastic! I really like this show. I don't want to give very much away, just look up! and enjoy.

You may get wet while watching this show, so be aware of that.
