 | Las Vegas Tourist Traps To See Reviews | 1 - 10 of 20 | | See my Las Vegas page for more info but .... I love going to this tacky, old Las Vegas style area! It's best seen at night so that you can experience the light show - there is a canopy over the pedestrian area of Freemont street that has a light and music show. There are street performers, and bands on stages at either end of the experience ...... check it out but watch for your belongings while you are looking up! Oh, did I forget to say, this is FREE?????? Leave a Comment

....(drum roll)....... the Canal barge rides at the Venetian!!!!
Now, how would you like to ride in a real live motorized canal barge, that runs on a track into the inner sanctum of the shopping mall at the Venetian, where your designated tenor at the rudder will belt out his best operatic splendiferousness at full volume, in a building that has all the accoustical excellence of a high school gymnasium? I thought so! Hah! Leave a Comment

We went to see Jubilee, one of those elaborate topless review, showgirl, shows at Bally's. I fell asleep. Literally. My boyfriend had to wake me up. He thought it was better than I did.
I would have said go see Siegfried and Roy, wish i had...but... Leave a Comment

OK, some would argue that all of Vegas is a tourist trap. And it is. But in its glorious homage to excess, it's a place where anyone can escape everyday reality and just have fun. Fremont Street has some things worth visiting (see my "Must See" tip), but be warned that it is full of some of the largest tacky souvenir shops you'll ever see. We also found this to be the most unpleasantly crowded part of Vegas (which may change at other times of the year -- we were there in early May).
Take in the light and sound show that blasts its way across the "roof" every hour or so. Also, there is a tasty, and tasteful, restaurant inside the Golden Nugget. It's called Zax and you can find more info in my restaurant tips. Leave a Comment

check out: the VENETIAN - click on travelogue rightcornerInteresting facts about the Venetian: Each guest room includes a fax machine/printer/computer-modem and each guest receives a welcoming fax with their personal fax number on it. The resort offers many replicas of famous Venetian landmarks including the Doge's Palace, the Rialto Bridge, the Campanile Bell Tower and St. Mark's Square, which is complete with live pigeons. Needless to say, the rooms are aesthetically stunning as well as technologically sound, with refinements from Italian marble in the bathrooms to a mini-bar. Ah, la dolce vita. Leave a Comment

Although not really a tourist trap, visiting the wedding chapels and pawn shops which are everywhere downtown and on the strip should be a requisite experience of any trip to Lost Wages. Hawk that walmart casio watch and blow it on a single hand at blackjack just for ***s an giggles. Sit in on an Elvis wedding while yer at it. They happen about every 20 mins. My preference is the Graceland Chapel (a good friend of mine actually got married there and it's lasted over a year now). Graceland is at 619 LV Blvd. South- near downtown. Leave a Comment

It's a must see while in vegas. Watching the show while wasted is particularly interesting.
One of the best places to catch a Fremont Street Experience light show is from the second-floor balcony of Fitzgeralds Casino. Just take the escalator up to the second level. The small balcony can get crowded during the shows, so get there about 15 minutes early. Fitzgeralds is easy to find- it's the green one on Fremont Street near Main St. downtown. Leave a Comment

They are known to have bizzarre colors of M&M's. Of course you can't get to them easily - they are upstairs. You have to manuever your way through all the M&M "junk" for sale. From clothing, hats, key chains, playing cards - you name it, they have it. So, my boyfriend and I bought a couple pounds of M&M's totalling $26.00! Outrageous, I thought! It's a little more than $10 per pound. But, I bought black, white and a yellow-green colored M&M's. Very cool! Located at 3785 S. Las Vegas Blvd, east side of the road, next to the giant Coca Cola bottle and just north of the MGM Hotel.

The Stratosphere is the place to go for a great view of the city. Well, most tourist like to see the city and THIS CITY is DEFINITELY one you want to see at night for a spectacular view. Leave a Comment

I don't know if you'd consider this a 'trap' or not, but be prepared for LOTS of shopping. This is inside the mall at Caesar's Palace. Leave a Comment
