 | Las Vegas Cool Casino Stuff Reviews | 1 - 10 of 41 | | I had visited Vegas several times before I learned there are penguins living at the Flamingo Hilton. They are WAY in the back of the casino (by the restaurants--follow signs). You can go outside and be really close to them. I am a penguin freak and can sit there for hours. What a treat! Golden Nugget Hotel- 129 E. Fremont St. This is one of the swank, old-school casinos downtown and is worth a visit (while you wait for the next Fremont Experience show) to see the biggest damn hunk of actual gold you'll ever see in your life. 'Discovered October 1980 near Wedderburn, Victoria, Australia, this magnificent gold nugget, named the Hand of Faith, is the largest on public display in the world, was discovered, using a metal detector, lying six inches below the surface in a vertical position. It weighs a massive 875 troy ounces (61 pounds, 11 ounces average).' Leave a Comment

This isn't far from the MGM Grand... just look for the giant Coke bottle, and it's next door. I thought the Coca-Cola place was quite boring! My (adult) daughter insisted I visit M&M World... which I did, grudgingly. What a pleasant surprise! I recommend it as a nice rest stop for all ages. The two things I liked best were (1) The wall of M&Ms. Enormous tubes line one wall with every color M&M you could possibly think of. Colors include black, orange, about 10 shades each of blues- purples- reds- greens, grey ... you name it... like a Crayola box! These are for sale... colors you won't find at home. Great take-home gift, too! (2) Upstairs you will find the movie house. A nice place to sit for a few minutes, and there's free M&Ms afterwards. During my visit the movie featured the Red M&M ... he lost his "M" in Vegas! The movie was 3-D and very cute! Also has lots of surprises for you! Leave a Comment

MADAME TUSSAUD'S CELEBRITY ENCOUNTER at The Venetian: There's about 100 displays of superstars from TV, flim & sports in this wax showcase from the creators of London's world-famous wax museum. The displays include artistes like Brad Pitt, Jodie Foster, Mel Gibson, Nicholas Cage & Pavarotti. All are life size displays & quite interesting. However, if you have visited Madame Tussaud's in London & are not that fond of film stars, then give this a miss! Leave a Comment

The Boardwalk Casino is one of those time and place moments. We seemed to have a great time there and it was only a 10 minute walk from the MGM Grand. This casino is actualy scheduled to close this winter but there are others like it around...you just have to look....the goal was clear in our minds...drinks flowing, cheap gambling and preferably a place where we could win or break even... We sat down right away at a $2 minimum roulette table, 50 cent chips....off the bat we were a bit down($60ea) but soon enough we battled back and three of us had $150 ea in front....turned out to be the begining of a great relationship with the Boardwalk Casino - Marcus, Corporate Mike and Me...cudos- John and Angie for the one all nighter!! Over the course of the following three days we gambled exclusivly at this casino. By our standards the casino did us no wrong...again...a time and place momnent...it was what it was. Leave a Comment

Mandalay Bay's pool complex is the best in Las Vegas. You can only get in if you stay at the hotel, so it's definitely worth it to book a room here. There are several different pools located around the complex. One of the most popular is a private, adults-only pool called Moorea. Moorea is very hip and trendy. It's filled with young, beautiful people and there is a charge for admission. The pool itself is small and rectangular (more for those who want to lounge and not actually swim). Surrounding the pool are several levels of concrete decking covered with large, wooden deck chairs. There is also a big bar area. A huge sound system blasts the latest club music. The whole area overlooks The Beach, Mandalay Bay's wave pool. Moorea makes bikini tops optional, and there are definitely some topless women here. It's $30 for men to enter and $10 for women. You'll want to arrive right when the pool opens at 8:30am (or line up earlier) to get a lounge chair. This place is very popular. Cameras are not allowed at Moorea and you must be 21 to enter. Okay, if this gets out TOO much, I may regret it, because I don't want to find it's booked when I go back there next, but in the MGM Grand, at Emeril's Fish House, they have ONE table actually IN the kitchen! You have to call in advance to reserve it, and it's expensive... but OH SO WORTH IT! We're talking a seven course meal, cooked right in front of you, served to you by the head chef as he describes each dish that's NOT EVEN ON THE MENU, but specially prepared selections made by the chef for only you! If you do it, go all the way, and allow the wine waiter to select a seperate, distinct and perfectly complemented wine to go with each course. The final course??? A enourmous tray with one slice of every dessert you could ever imagine! I'm telling you, this little-known secret is the best of Vegas. I won't go back until I can afford to dine there again! The Bellegio water show is another impressive free show. It'll also be a cool place to be on a very hot day since all the water flying around cools off the surrounding area by about 5 degrees. Also, way inside the Bellagio is an impressive floral display, complete with gazebo. The ceiling in that area is made to look like different colored flower petals---colored stained glass. Another great way to cool off in Vegas is in one of the many great pools here. Some of the resorts have fabulous pools. Mandolay Bay even has a sand beach one with a huge wave pool---just like being at the ocean. Another great hotel pool is at Hard Rock Inn. It even has a swim up black jack table! This hotel seems to cater to the young adult set. Another pool I found fascinating was the ones at the Luxor. The picture is of one of the Luxor pools from the walk way leading from the garage into the casino. I'm not sure, but you probably have to be staying in the resort to use their pools. In the summer, there is even a huge water park on the strip that is open---called Water World (or something like that). Leave a Comment

How about these big statues of Siegfreid and Roy and one of their tiger that's in their act. I understand there are 4 known white tigers and they have 3 of them. Leave a Comment
