Tanzania is a good option to massified Kenya. Sometimes considered the poor sister of the its neighbour, is one of the countries with better Parks in Africa (Ngorongoro, Serengueti, Selous, Tarangire...), it's got the highest and most famous peak (Kilimanjaro) and probably the most charming island (Zanzibar). Not far from Parikia (Paros) there is a valley called Petaloudes where, in July & august, thousands of butterflies gather and cover all. You can take a bus there. At the bus stop there is normally a local peasant waiting for tourists. He takes you up the valley in his pick up for 1 euro. Walking is about 20 minutes... This hotel in Arusha is one of those typical medium range african hotels, all built in concrete, hardly painted, with huge empty corridors and very simple amenities. One of those in which you find african businessmen drinking alone at the bar, the staff watching TV all day and plastic curtains everywhere...
