The Las Vegas Hilton is our favorite place to stay and play in Vegas. The rooms are always clean and comfortable and if you are a gambler the comps are fantastic. We do occasionally stay at other venues but The Hilton is usually our place. The pool is good sized although a little crowded in the summer. They have the Star Trek: The Experience which is a must see for any die hard fan!

The staff is outstanding here. They will go out of thier way for you. There are 14 restaurants to choose from.

After being very disappointed at my previous hotel, I was ready for a fight when I got to the Hilton. Luckily, this hotel lived up to my expectations, and even exceeded them!

The bellservice was prompt and freindly. My room was large, clean and the view was spectacular. My room faced north Las Vegas, away from the strip ....... an entire wall of windows facing the country club and the mountains ... not a glimmer of neon in sight! (after you've been in Vegas a few days, you need a neon break).

The conference facilities were fabulous, and if you've ever read my Vegas tips, you already know what I think of the Star Trek Experience and Quark's bar and grille :)

My only disappointment here was the poor internet connectivity in my room - though they report this will improve with time ......

Las Vegas Hilton: Adjoining the Convention Centre    Check Rates

  • Love this casino, rooms are great, but cater to the businessman on an expense account, therefore I find prices a 'bit' too high in general terms.

This is an all round resort, and a person would not need to leave the property if they had no desire to.

Casino is well lit, more than most, but I find it rather smokey, but they have good slot machines.

Good restaurants, a step above the average for regular meals, and great Italian and Chinese close by. (unable to remember the names, but cater to convention business, always busy)

Good all round facilities...golf etc. Unfortunately, the hotel is located a little off the beaten track, and a taxi is required to visit most other casinos.

The Hilton Las Vegas is located right off the Strip. If you travel north on the strip, before you reach the Stratosphere, you will turn right and it can be easily seen due to its dimensions.
The Hilton is classy, friendly and has a touch of elegance all over it. It's a regular hotel, by regular I mean it is not a themed hotel.
The parking lot is pretty big and there is no problem finding a spot.
The entrance is similar to all the hotels in Vegas: the first thing you see is the casino.
One thing that I must say is :get a car. See, me and my wife thought, by looking at the maps we had, it would have been a very short trip on foot from the Hilton to the strip.
The first day we almost died. Streets are bigger than they seem on a map, especially when the temperature is over 100 degrees (fahrenheit).
Howevr, you can use the trolleys that stroll back and forth the strip and they also stop at the Hilton. But sometimes it might be tough to wait under the sun and they are pretty hot inside when crowdy (always). After 2 days we decided to rent a car.
Anyway the Hilton is off the strip but not too far from it. The casino inside is big and well kept. Well arranged too, with a pretty sparkling life at night. Although I planned to go to a different casino every night (7 nights), I spent a couple of nights at the Hilton casino and actually found it to be one of the best.
What we both really liked is that the rooms are spacious. Note that we went into a regualr standard room, nothing fancy. But it was wide, full of space, comfortable.
Inside the Hilton offers some restaurants that we did not try as we were almost always somewhere else. However I have to mention Margaritaville Cafe'. Nice happy hours with huge bowls of Margaritas and complimentary nachos.

The pool is not as huge as some of the hotel pools in the strip. But we live in Florida, so the pool was the last of our targets. Anyway, the pool service is very good; the only thing is that the pool can get pretty crowdy and sometimes there might not be enough room for you to swim in the water.
If it happens, don't get aggravated and do as I did: lay down on the deck chair, enjoy a cocktail and study your blackjack strategy...
Oh, inside the hotel there is the attraction: Star Trek: the experience. Funny experience.

  • The Hilton is adjacent (not connected, but like 50 paces) to the convention center. If you're going here for a convention, I'd HIGHLY recommend this place. By the end of a long working day, the last thing you wanna do is stand in an hour-long line waiting for a cab to take your tired butt back to your hotel way over on The Strip.

The Hilton itself is undergoing a massive redecorating/remodeling process. The place is outdated; but in Vegas, anything 10-minutes-ago is "outdated". The rooms are 'roomy' and a home-away-from home. I liked the big ol bathtubs (jacuzzi-style!) and the AWESOME view of The Strip & the red mountains in the background!!!

The hotel chics will give you a map of the Hilton if ya ask for it; ask for it, but beware. It's like looking at a post-it note sized thingy with little colored blocks. The restaurants & bars INSIDE the Hilton are really something else. The casino? It's sorta smack-square in the center. And, freaking huge. If you don't lose your mind from all the flashing lights, you'll get lost and then lose your mind trying to find yourself and your path again.

I ordered so much room service there, it was unreal. Breakfast, delivered promptly and with a smile; they poured my coffee FOR me. So I was mighty impressed. Lunch came very quickly, while 1,000's of other Pack Expo grunts like myself were jam-packing into all the Hilton restaurants & the convention center restaurants, I went up to my room, high in the sky, & ordered the prompt, yummy, and very private room service!

The only downfall of the Hilton is... (and I hate to say this cuz normally I'm not picky about this), the BED. I talked to the other 9 people who stayed in the Hilton with me, and well everyone said the same thing; great service, great food, great PRICE ($179 a night!), but good GAWD those beds. If sleeping on a rock like Fred Flintstone used to do is your thing, then ok fine. Overtop of the rock-hard bed, there's a mirror; so you can make faces at yourself as you adjust to the rock-bed.

The single-most important and reason-to-visit, reason-to-live thing about the Hilton is the Star Trek "area". It takes up a huge chunk of that one wing of the Hilton. It's on the map!

The restaurant (called "Quark's Bar & Restaurant") is just AWESOME. You'll be seated by a Starfleet cadet & waited on by other uniformed Trek faces. And, while you sit there eating the plentiful food (all named after something from the show or movies), you can watch scenes from the TV series, or bits & pieces of the many wonderful Star Trek big-screen flicks.

And, while you're eating, Quark himself will come by, in full character. He'll tell you all about how Ferengi are the opportunists of the universe. Quark might hit on the females (all females) of your group, because let's face it; as he says, human females are highly prized in the universe. (The Klingons think us human females are ugly, though).

I'll say this much about the bar-portion (which I visited just as much as the restaurant): the drinks are saucer-sized!!! The prices are just as blown-up as the rest of Vegas, so that's that as far as the price.

Star Trek also hosts weddings there; the Klingon warrior I hugged & discussed the finer things about the universe with while downing the rest of my saucer-sized Cosmo, he told me many humans get married on the deck of the Enterprise. A dream come true for those of us who are geeks and proud of it!

Okay other things about the Hilton that I guess are nice: Rob visited the 3rd floor spa/health club. He said it was 'so freaking nice' to lay around in the sauna & the place wasn't crowded. Also the taxi-cab service, taking you either to The Strip or to the airport or just out to eat at somewhere other than Quark's (heaven forbid), is VERY PROMPT.

All in all once the Hilton gets remodeled, and once they consider replacing those Flintstone mattresses? It'll be the only place I'll ever stay in Vegas!

Las Vegas Hilton: The King's old address    Check Rates

  • The Las Vegas Hilton was great value for money. You're welcomed by a life size bronze statue of the king himself in the lobby. (Elvis had a residence here during the 70's cheeseburger years and stayed in the penthouse). You're also likely to bump into giant kling-on people from the Star Trek Experience. They're all huge folks and wear platform gary glitter style silver boots which make them even taller. They are obviously told to keep in character and remain stroppy no matter how hard we tried to take the *** out of them and make them laugh! The casino has a lot of low roller tables at $2 a pop so it's agood place to start if you're a casino virgin like us. The rooms are basic but roomy and clean. Try and get one facing the strip rather than one pool side as there are poolside parties a few nights a week and the music is a wee bit noisy. The Hilton is not directly on the strip but it is convenient. You're about a 10 minute walk from Circus Circus and the Riviera and about 20 minutes walk from the more swish hotels further down the strip.
There's a huge area for the sports club betting inthe casino. One night I woke up about 3 in the morning and left my girlfriend in bed and went for an explore down here. It was surreal. It was almost empty so I just sat and watched the punters (all middle aged / old men) betting. It was quite sad and a bit twin peaks style spooky. They were all in this kind of trance-like concentration. One fella one about a grand but didn't even smile - just got back to business staight away - pen in mouth - furrowed brow.

Views, cheesy seventies atmosphere, friendly staff.

Las Vegas Hilton: Always a great deal    Check Rates

  • We've always found a great deal at the Hilton. They run the best specials of any non-downtown hotel in Vegas (possibly because it's off-strip and you pretty much have to have a car to get anywhere).

Our rooms are always very clean & nice, and we've been upgraded before without asking. The rooms are as nice as any Strip hotel I've stayed in (much bigger than some, like Treasure Island).

In a nutshell, you're paying downtown prices for a strip-worthy room. A great deal and a good place to lay your head when planning to spend most of the day Strip-crawling.

Visit the website to see the deals currently running and sign up for email updates of deals. I like the feature that you can see when each deal is valid on a little calendar.

I really like the Star Trek ride & museum, and I've seen very little of the tv show. It was definitely the most "interactive" ride I've ever been on. Sometimes the hotel runs deals that include free admission to this: I recommend those, because admission is like $25 otherwise I think.

The pool is nice although one day they had to drain it because of a little kid doing you know what in it!!

The hotel also has a Benihana, which I've not tried, but that's always fun.

  • The hilton was being remodeled the last time that I went there which was Jan 2006. The dining choices are not the best. The staff is courteous. I had a few problems with my room and reservation all of which were fixed promptly. Its an OK place to stay. There are places you can stay for the same price that are nicer and more centrally located. I was there for a convention so it was convenient. After remodeling it might be more cool. It has a decent sportsbook for betting. If you are younger such as myself staying more centrally located on the strip is more fun but if you are there to gamble etc.. its an acceptable place.

Manilow plays there if you like him. StaR Trek Casino with an attached Star Trek restaraunt where you can meet some klingon and ferengie girls :) Access to the monorail system for quick travel to the other end of the strip.
