It goes without saying that the Bellagio is a luxury hotel. Its opulence is famous worldwide. But there were a few things about it that we felt did not measure up to either its reputation or our expectations. First off, the line to check in was abominable. After 5 hours on a plane we had to drag our luggage through the lobby for over an hour to get our room. Secondly, the ammenities could have been better. For example, if you are paying over $200 a night for a room you should not be charged $2 for an extra mini bottle of shampoo, nor should you have to pay to use the exercise equipment in the gym. Also, and this is a big pet peeve of mine, there were NO BATHROBES. I'm at the Bellagio; I want a damn bathrobe.

Happily, there were also many things about the Bellagio that were great. It is one of the most beautiful and elegant places I have ever stayed. The indoor gardens were stunning and the pool area even more so. Our room was perfect with its cozy king size bed and we loved the bathroom, made entirely of Italian marble complete with whirlpool bath and his and hers sinks.

There were several things about the Bellagio that I loved. One of them was the pool area. It is exclusive to guests and the foliage and trees surrounding its 8 pools make privacy easy even among hundreds of people. The pool area cafe was one of my favorites, as there is really something to be said for being served an elegant meal while in your bathing suit surrounded by beautiful things.

The casino here is also exceptional. Though we don't really gamble we found it to be very quiet compared to most. It also has an air filtration system that makes cigarette smoke almost undetectable, which was a big plus for us and a definate advantage over other casinos.

Another favorite of ours was the piano bar located in the casino. Here they serve the famous Bellagio Cocktail, a concoction of champagne and passion fruit that you could drink all day long. I still crave them and have never been able to duplicate the recipe, though I have tried.

  • I stayed here on my Vegas trip. It was still pricey, but the midweek just after the holiday rates made it bearable. There's so much to see and do at the Bellagio that you could probably spend your entire trip here (but don't because that means you're probably spending too much $$ at the casino, spa or restaurants.) There are 9 restaurants and one more set to open soon, the buffet, Cirque du Soleil's O, the conservatory, casino, several bars, including the more fancy Caramel lounge, Light nightclub, the pool and the spa, which is under renovation but they are still willing to take your money for treatments on the hotel's 4th floor.

Its grand, its beautiful, but so are most hotels on the Strip. The Bellagio has very friendly service, great live music and excellent restaurants. Oh, and the rooms are great. Love the marble bathrooms, the robes and the comforters on the bed.

Almost everyone I know who's been to Vegas tells you to go to see the outdoor fountains, and it's true, they are fantastic. look indoors , and you'll see some amazing indoor waterworks which seem to defy gravity. As you are in the air conditioned comfort, it's a pleasant way to spend a few minutes in very nice surroundings.
When we visited, there was an exhibition of Monet's in the Art Gallery , on loan from a collection in Boston. They were stunning.

    Water features absolutely incredible.

  • This hotel is for the silly people who would rather throw their money away on accomodation instead of investing it in the dollar slots.
Kids are not welcome, and are turned away at the door unless parents are registered. However, this does ensure navigating the casino floor without tripping over toddlers.
Great buffets, however, they are expensive as far as buffets are concerned, but lots of choice, and superior quality. The dancing fountains are a joy to behold, swaying too and fro in time with the music. Wonderful gardens, and a general feeling of wealth surrounds you. This hotel may not be comfortable for some..(includes mapakettle)

    a mini Lake Como.

  • Its always been a favourite but have never managed to stay there but with special offers on room rates ,this year we had seven great nights in this amazing hotel. Rooms with fountain views on the 18th floor were enormous and with a huge floor to ceiling window looking out onto the lake and the Strip beyond, it surpassed all our dreams. Giant kingsize beds with a tapestry canopy overhead, remote controlled drapes and lighting and one of the biggest bathrooms Ive ever seen with a tub and a shower for 6 people all made for a great stay.

With 10,000 employees this hotel really has a touch of luxury. So much to see and do here, from the amazing conservatory with its ever changing flowers and decorations, to the wonderful restaurants and lounges and a vast Spa with over 300 staff! 7 swimming pools surrounded by private villas with their own pools and jacuzzis and housing big name filmstars and the elegant shopping walkway where Dior, Fendi, and Gucci rub shoulders with Jimmy Shoo, Cartier and then some. This hotel is class!

This is the place. Although I have never been able to afford to stay here, I can guarantee that you will have a pleasant stay. This is old-style Vegas with modern amenities. The place is filled with red upholstry, marble and brass. It shines.

This is also probably the classiest place on the strip. If you plan on doing any significant gambling, this is the place to be and be seen. The dealers are the nicest on the strip and the drinks are premium. I usually drink top-shelf gin and grapefruit juice. If the grapefruit juice wasn't fresh squeezed, then I want to know where they buy it from because it was the best I've had. They also carry the best selection of premium liquor on the strip. No cheap well-stuff at Bellagio.

And as a somewhat private tip...the restrooms are the cleanest I've seen in Vegas. The attendents aren't overbearing, and from what I could tell they clean each receptacle after every use. Not to mention that the stalls are marble.

If Sinatra were still around this is where he'd stay. No doubt about it. This is class.

The Fountains of Bellagio. Show every 1/2 hour (or 15 minutes, depending on the time of day). Great view from the Fontana Lounge (see ofther tips).

Bellagio is also home to many designer stores such as Gucci, Prada, Tiffany & Co., Armani, etc...

  • Staying at the Bellagio was so much fun. Sure, we could have found much cheaper accommodations, but we wanted to stay somewhere that was truly a Vegas landmark. Our room had a great view of the fountain show. Parking was sometimes a pain, but I am sure that is the case at any of the hotels.

    The ceiling!!!!!!!!!!! It is stunning!

  • Despite the fact that it is supposedly one of the greatest hotels in the world, much less Las Vegas, I was not impressed with the place. I get much better service at Mandalay Bay and Aladdin, which basically offer the same amenities as far as room size go. I think the reputation succeeds the quality in this case. I had such a terrible stay the first time that they actually gave me a free room on my return visit. (Came back in after a day out on the strip and the maids had torn the room apart-garbage on the floor and everything.) On my next visit, I got flowers, candy, a fruit basket, and put on the executive VIP floor. A vast improvement, but only because I complained.

Yes, it's a nice hotel. It has expensive restaurants and expensive stores and an equally expensive nightclub. But so do half the hotels on the strip. The best thing about the Bellagio are the fountains out front. Stay here if you want to impress your friends, but for the price I don't think it's worth it. Like I said, you get the same stuff at Mandalay Bay.

  • When I started planning our time in Las Vegas my priority was to stay in a fabulous hotel, with a view from our room of the Strip. When I looked into the Bellagio I read that not only could we have a room with a Strip view, but it would also have a view of the Bellagio Lake and dancing fountains. Sold!

The Bellagio is a massive 5 star hotel and casino located in the middle of the Strip. The design and décor was inspired by Italy's Lake District, and it is a lot classier (IMHO) than some of the other Vegas theme hotels. At the front of the hotel is the aforementioned lake, with regular fountain displays. Inside, the lobby is marble filled and there is a very impressive glass sculpture on the ceiling - 2000 hand blown flowers in bright colours.

The casino is vast, and seemed to cater for the higher-stakes gambler. There are several restaurants, cafes, bars, and a night club. The pool area is stylish and there are private cabanas for hire if you are so inclined. Art lovers may want to visit the Fine Art Gallery, and if you are into Cirque du Soleil then the Bellagio is home to their water show "O".

Our check-in went as planned, and we were appointed the requested 'Deluxe Lakeview Room'. To get to our room we had to walk through the casino, which really helped us to get into a Vegas state-of-mind. Our room was great, spacious and tastefully decorated and fabulous views of the lake and Strip. So bizarre to see the Eiffel Tower out the window!

We very much enjoyed our time at the Bellagio - loved the room, sampled and enjoyed a few of the restaurants and bars, enjoyed the atmosphere of the casino, and thought the location on the Strip was perfect.
